Knowledge is sticky.

You might have learned something, know it to your bones, but sharing that knowledge, gifting it to people who might use it for good, that's always difficult.

Your people have always known that. When they found the good root, the good berries, the right wood to craft into the right form, they were careful to teach it to the ones who came after. When they found the magics, the little magics, they passed those along as well.

Your people have always had the healers, the protectors, the wise women and clever men who knew how to put the pieces together. They watched the skies, the birds, the seasons. They learned the good ways to do things and they passed those to you.

You are a healer, a protector, one of the wise. You studied hard and learned well. You are part of nature, the part that cares for your folk, the part that reveres the beast and brook. 

You are the one that the midwife turns to, eyes grave, when the birthing mother has worked too hard at it, the one they call for when Death is on the threshold, the one who eases the way from one life to the next.

Witch? Curandera? Hag? Bah. Words, and not very good ones.
